Terms of Service
Last updated: November 3, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the websites and applications operated by Red Thread Investigations ("Red Thread", "we", "us"), including the admin, investigation, field, and firm portals at redthreadinvestigations.com and its subdomains (the "Services"). By accessing or using the Services you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services. If you use the Services on behalf of a Firm or Client, you confirm you are authorized to bind it to these Terms.
Who may use the Services
The Services are for business use by investigation firms ("Firms"), their investigators and staff, and the companies those Firms work for ("Clients"). Accounts are created by Red Thread or by a Firm, or through single sign-on for an email domain a Firm or Client has registered. You must be an adult and must provide accurate information.
Your account
You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. Do not share your login. Tell us promptly at support@redthreadinvestigations.com if you suspect unauthorized access. A Firm's administrators control access for that Firm's users and the Clients it invites.
Acceptable use
You agree to use the Services only for lawful purposes. You will not:
- use the Services to gather, store, or share information in violation of any law, court order, or professional licensing requirement;
- upload content you have no right to use, or that contains malware;
- attempt to access another Firm's or Client's data, or probe, disrupt, or circumvent the security of the Services;
- reverse engineer the Services, or use automated means to access them except through interfaces we provide; or
- use the Services to harass, defraud, or harm anyone.
Content and ownership
Firms and Clients keep ownership of the documents, notes, and other content they submit ("Customer Content"). You grant Red Thread a limited license to host, process, and display Customer Content solely to provide and secure the Services and as described in our Privacy Policy. Red Thread and its licensors own the Services, including the software, design, and trademarks. You are responsible for the legality and accuracy of Customer Content and for having any required authority or consent to submit it.
Confidentiality
We treat Customer Content as confidential and will not disclose it except to service providers who help us run the Services, as described in the Privacy Policy, or as required by law. Access within a Firm and between a Firm and its Clients is controlled by the permissions that Firm configures.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the Services available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features, and will try to give notice of material changes. We may update these Terms by posting a revised version; continued use after the update means you accept it.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect the Services or other users, to comply with law, or because of a breach of these Terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law.
Disclaimers
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Red Thread does not provide legal advice, and the Services do not replace your professional judgment or your obligations under applicable law.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Red Thread will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data, arising from your use of the Services. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Services is limited to the amount you paid us for the Services in the twelve months before the claim arose, or one hundred U.S. dollars if you paid nothing. Where a Firm has a separate written agreement with us, that agreement controls to the extent it conflicts with these Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Utah for any dispute arising from these Terms or the Services.
